About This Position
The Sutter Club was founded in 1889 and is the second-oldest private club in the state of California. The Club moved to its present location at 1220 9th Street in 1930 and continues to thrive as private social club one block from the State Capitol. The Sutter Club is hiring on-call, part-time Housekeepers to support our Housekeeping team in the event of a team member's absence, or to support the team during peak seasons. Attention to detail and a drive to exceed customer expectations are a must. Ideal candidates for this position would have experience working as housekeepers in a private club or in the hospitality industry.

Classification:
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is desirable.
- At least two years of prior housekeeping or custodial experience preferred (private club or hospitality experience preferred).
Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Housekeeper supports the overall cleanliness, presentation, and readiness of the Clubhouse and its event spaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for Members and guests.
Job Tasks/Duties
• Cleans and sanitizes all clubhouse restrooms daily, including sinks, toilets, floors, and fixtures.
• Dusts, wipes down, and polishes furniture, surfaces and décor throughout the clubhouse.
• Vacuums carpets, sweeps and mops floors, and maintains cleanliness of high-traffic areas.
• Performs deep-cleaning tasks as needed, included scrubbing floors, washing windows, and detailed cleaning of assigned areas.
• Ensures floors, windows, furniture, and fixtures are spotless and presentable.
• Monitors and restocks supplies and cleaning materials.
• Cleans and prepares event spaces before scheduled functions and cleans up afterwards.
• Follows health, sanitation, and safety standards established by the Club.
• Reports maintenance or repair needs to supervisor and/or Club management.
• Secures cleaning supplies and equipment in designated areas after use.
• Works collaboratively with the housekeeping team to meet daily and event-drive cleaning requirements.
• Performs other housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
Requirements:Skills Requirements
- Knowledgeable about maintaining, cleaning and preserving a wide variety of surfaces.
- Follows instructions regarding the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Use ladders when required.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in a hot, humid and noisy environment.
- This position has the potential to expose the employee to infectious materials. Personal Protective Equipment will be available to the employee.
