Position Summary:
Under limited direction, the Postdoctoral Associate will perform duties as outlined by their supervisor. Being a training position, the Postdoctoral Associate will support the lab and experiments, while pursuing their own research once competency is demonstrated.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to learn to advance projects
- Generate hypotheses, design experiments, interpret data, trouble shoot and optimize experiments
- Be able to analyze and interpret data from different sources and draw relevant conclusions
- Be able to present results at internal and external meetings
- Accurately document experiments
- Contribute to the writing of reports and manuscripts with increasing responsibility over time
- Work collaboratively across lab functions and train other junior lab staff as needed
- Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.
- Communicate with others in and out of the lab in fluent written and spoken English
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: PhD in Biomedical Sciences including metabolism, mass spectrometry, glycobiology and proteomics
Experience: Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell glycobiology and biochemistry. A solid publication record is expected, as shown by senior-author publications in using LC-MS and/or GC-MS based metabolic flux studies, following labeled precursors into multiple downstream products. An on-demand working understanding of metabolic pathways and their interactions is essential. Background in chemistry, proteomics, glycomics, and some experience in glycoproteomics, is highly desirable. hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques, including cloning, sequencing, and CRISPR-based genome editing is needed.
Certifications, Licenses, etc Due to current uncertainties in U.S. visa policies, applications are limited to candidates already authorized and working in the United States.
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:
- Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent data presentation, verbal, and written communication skills in fluent English
- Possess strong attention to detail, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills. Being a team play with the ability to work on several simultaneous projects.

Work Environment:
The work environment is a modern biochemical ,molecular ,and genetics lab with 5 members having different skill sets. The candidate will bridge their work with her/his own ideas after a training period that demonstrates independent and insightful thinking, problem solving, and a collaborative spirit.
Getting along with others, collaborating effectively and balancing your own ideas with other, more long term members of the lab is essential. Impromptu discussions should be a focal point. Discussing results and planning the rationales and details of the experiments are ongoing expectations. All of these items are fundamental expectations in an individual with a “kind heart” and “a concern for patients”.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to execute those physical activities required to perform the essential functions including, but not limited to, regular sitting and being mobile; continual communicating both in person and on the telephone; regular keyboarding; regular reading of both print and digital material; and all other activities required to perform essential functions.
Compensation: The expected hiring rate for this position is $70,304.00 - $77,334.40/annually commensurate with Postdoctoral experience.
