Overview of the role:

Assistant controller plays a significant role in the financial management of the organization.

Reporting to Controller/Senior accounting manager, this role is responsible for supervising

major financial aspects of the company, ensuring its financial accuracy, and providing

insightful suggestions to support organizational objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Financial Planning and Strategy

  • Develop and implement financial plans aligned with the organization's goals and
  • objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the controller and senior executives.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.

2. Financial Management

  • Supervise the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, and
  • financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting principles.
  • Optimize financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

3. Risk Management

  • Identify and assess financial risks, proposing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and changes in financial regulations.

4. Capital Management

  • Be insightful in the company’s capital structure to optimize funding and liquidity.
  • Analyze investment opportunities and assess their impact on financial performance.
  • Work with financial institutions and banks to secure necessary funding and manage relationships.

5. Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports, and presentations for
  • internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and standards.

6. Strategic Leadership

  • Collaborate with the executive team and general managers to align financial
  • strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of
  • accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in key decision-making processes as a trusted advisor.

7. Treasury & Cash Management

  • Manage cash flow and liquidity to meet operational needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies for cash management, working capital, and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor and manage relationships with banks and financial partners.

8. Tax Planning and J-SOX Audit Compliance

  • Develop and execute tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with external advisors as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to the Japanese Sarbanes-Oxley (JSOX) Act requirements, supervising the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to guarantee accurate financial reporting and compliance with JSOX regulation

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (MBA, CPA, or CMA

    preferred).

  • Proven experience in a financial leadership role.

  • Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and business

    operations.

  • Analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Leadership and interpersonal abilities.

  • Communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to

    diverse audiences.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
