ABOUT iQ ACADEMY, LOS ANGELES
iQ Academy, Los Angeles delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. We use the K12, inc. curriculum as the basis for instruction and you will teach via a Class Connect Program.
HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION:
Full time: Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.
Full Time: $23.25 per hour
We do participate in CalPERS. Please contact your CalPERS counselor about how employment with iQ Academy, Los Angeles may affect your personal STRS account. We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system.
Job Title: iQConnect Engagement Coach
Reports To: School Culture and Climate Coordinator

Overview:
Virtual schools are new models in public education. They look both backward to what we know works well in educating children, and forward to see how technology can help us implement these strategies with children. Virtual school teachers are part of a pioneering effort. Our teachers and staff, therefore, need to share the school’s pioneering mission and approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Onboarding of new students and parents, including, but not limited to:
Host “Keeping Warm” sessions as needed to support and engage new families
Provide email outreach to assigned onboarding students
Complete and log Welcome calls with new families as assigned
Ensuring all student, Learning Coach and parent accounts are active and working
Ensure online school is setup correctly
Host live orientation to virtual school sessions
Host help desks and proactively contact students and learning coaches
Develop Student Support plans and hold regular conferences with assigned students and families
Support virtual caseload of struggling students, as assigned
Meet with students virtually to offer individualized support in 1-1 or small-group sessions for students, parents and learning coaches
Provide social-emotional resources to students, families, and staff as needed
Provide MKV/Homeless resources and supports, as needed
Create and maintain resources for students
Create and facilitate school assemblies
Assist with social media content, the LC App and school newsletter, as needed
Maintain detailed documentation on each student
Use all available methods of contact and document contact attempts as directed by supervisor
Communicate regularly with teachers, guidance counselors and administration regarding student needs, success, etc.
Use data to inform all decisions and monitor student progress
Attend meetings, conferences, and trainings as needed
Proctor state/federal test, in-person, as assigned
Participate in school-wide events and activities, as assigned
Other duties, as assigned
Requirements/Experience:
Reside in the state of California
Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organization and time-management skills
Excellent writing and grammar skills
Flexible schedule
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, PowerPoint and experience using them in a professional capacity
Ability to work collaboratively on teams
Prior experience working with at-risk youth
Ability to relate to new and returning student needs and provide support

This position is a virtual position working from a home office. Must have ability to travel throughout the school year within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, proctor state exams and participate in school activities and orientations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
