About This Position

Description:

To assist in operating trouble-shooting automated machines, sub-assemblies and electrical components. As a Tortilla Room Machine Operator, you will be the point of contact for all Tortilla Room team members in the absence of the Production Supervisor or Operations Manager. You must be able to act proactively to ensure seamless team operations and effective collaboration. Assistant machine operators will plan, organize and recommend strategies, ensuring that the product is developed successfully, in accordance with Tortilla Room specifications.

Requirements:

Duties and responsibilities

  • Performing machine alignments and final set-ups.
  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle
  • Break down, clean and cover all electrical component to prepare for wash down
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
  • Inspect parts and machines with precision and measuring tools
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws; correct as needed
  • Ensure dough is properly mixed and prepared for distribution
  • Ensure proper stacking of tortillas is completed
  • Ability to stage product for next step process
  • Understand and follow all department SOP’s (Site Operating Procedures)
  • Ability to understand, read and complete all necessary paperwork, including but not limited to FDA Documents
  • Ensure finished product is palletized/wrapped in preparation for departure to next process
  • Mediate mechanical/personnel issues that might occur during the shift
  • Asist with overseeing all cooking Procedures of Product, per FDA regulations

  • Assist in identifying performance gaps and implement additional training as needed
  • Be open to feedback and engage in issue resolution at all levels
  • Follow and support all company GMP and HACCP policies
  • Perform required checks and fully understand quality standards
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies and conducting inspections
  • Assist with daily production records and verify all documentation is completed correctly and timely

Qualifications

  • Good communication and training skills
  • Good basic math aptitude and ability to use scales and calculators.
  • Above average mechanical aptitude
  • Must have strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
  • Must be available to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in writing
  • Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Managing projects and teams

Physical Demands

  • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (up to 2-3 hours before break); up to 10-hour shifts
  • Climbing or moving on ladders, steps, stairwells, walkways, and platforms,
  • Carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing and pulling of heavy and/or awkward objects or loads. Lifting and lowering of objects up to 80 lbs. Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching, pulling, lifting, extending, flexing the hands and arms to perform tasks. A variety of arm and hand movements are required in applying force, movement and repetition.
  • May be subject to reach, kneel, climb, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist 66% of work shift

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to cold, hot and or humid conditions
  • Climate extremes found in all areas of plant operations
  • Frequently works near moving and mechanical parts
  • Possible exposure to fumes and air borne particles
  • Ability to work in close spaces
  • Loud noise environment to be expected
  • Subjected to changing of priorities, time pressures, constraints and high level of related stress
  • May be required to use hearing, eye and toe protection when working around moving machinery
