Job Description
Residence Life at Elizabethtown College invites applications for Residence Hall Director.
The primary purpose of this position is to lead and oversee a neighborhood of residential communities (traditional halls, apartments, on-campus houses, and/or quads) to ensure a healthy and vibrant community. This position is considered an essential employee during inclement weather and other unexpected emergency events. This position is a 12 month, live-on campus role, with nights as weekends as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SUPERVISION
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student staff (such as senior resident assistants, resident assistants, and/or community assistants)
- Assist with the recruitment, selection, and training of student leaders in Residence Life
- Supervise student leaders through weekly one-on-one meetings, team meetings, and as needed coaching and development plans and evaluations
HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE, COMMUNITY LIVING, AND STUDENT LIFE
Housing Coordination, Assignments, and Facilities
- Oversight, awareness, and attention of the entirety of your neighborhood to ensure that students have holistic support
- Assist with housing selection and assignments
- Coordinate room changes for students in your residential communities as needed
- Assist with break stay and exception requests
- Open and close buildings
- Communicate with parents and family members of students that have questions about anything related to their residential experience and find solutions to any issues
- Oversee and conduct health and safety inspections each semester
- Complete monthly building walkthroughs
- Collaborate with Facilities and Environmental Services to be included in the solutions of ongoing or consistent issues or concerns
On-Call, Crisis Management, and Student Rights and Responsibilities
- Participate in the Administrator On-Call (AOC) rotation
- Be familiar with established emergency protocols, and be prepared to implement them when necessary
- Partner with Campus Safety to ensure smooth responses and shared expectations to situations involving officers and Residence Life
- Communicate, monitor, and enforce College policies and procedures
- Adjudicate conduct cases as assigned
- Perform wellness checks, advise and refer students to appropriate resources
- Participate in Bias or Title IX investigations or hearing panels as needed
General Duties within Division and Department
- Demonstrate an active commitment to fostering vibrant communities and a sense of belonging for students
- Monitor and respond to emails in the shared Residence Life department inbox
- Assist with social media posts for Residence Life
- Assist with all trainings/workshops, recruitment and selection, community programming, and housing selection processes and events
- Participate in signature campus events such as New Student Orientation (NSO), Admissions Open Houses and Accepted Student Days, Homecoming and Family Weekend, and TGIS
- Dine with students, faculty, and staff in college dining facilities using available meal plan
- Other duties as assigned
ASSESSMENT
- Participate in departmental assessment initiatives
- Visit weekly with students to learn how their experience is progressing and amplify those things that are value added, while seeking solutions for those that are issues
- Partner with Academics, Athletics, Student Assembly, Alumni Relations, SAAC, and peer mentors to leverage existing experiences and amplify their impact
- Solicit input and sample students from across campus in both survey and focus group formats

Required Qualifications:
- Reside in assigned college-owned housing
- Bachelor’s degree required; plus, two years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
