Job Summary
The Stacker Operator is responsible for operating equipment used to sort and stack lumber in the Sawmill, Timbers Mill, or Planer Mill. This role ensures production efficiency, equipment functionality, and product quality while maintaining a safe work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate stacker equipment to sort and stack lumber safely and efficiently
- Fix cross-ups as they occur to maintain continuous production flow
- Identify different lumber sizes, lengths, and grades
- Ensure sticks are properly placed and stack quality meets specifications
- Perform daily cleanup and housekeeping tasks on and around equipment
- Ensure finished products meet Moundville quality standards
- Follow all safety, health, and plant policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Willingness to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Strong commitment to safety and dependable attendance
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to learn new tasks and adapt to change
- Ability to work in a noisy, industrial environment
- Ability to comply with all required safety policies and use appropriate safety equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lumber, wood products, or manufacturing environments
- Prior sawmill experience preferred
- Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, or front-end loaders
- Basic computer skills
- Experience troubleshooting industrial or production equipment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
- Ability to work from elevated positions using required safety gear
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, push, and pull for extended periods
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions
