Student CAD Intern at Harrisburg University – Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Student interns will help design and prepare 3D models for printing and testing. Work includes creating new parts, improving existing designs, and learning how to turn ideas into working prototypes. Interns will use CAD software and 3D printers to build and test parts used in real projects. This role will also include basic 3D scanning and working with mesh files to convert scans into usable CAD models.

• Create and edit 3D models using SolidWorks or Fusion 360
• Prepare files for 3D printing and test-fit printed parts
• Perform basic 3D scanning and convert mesh data into CAD models
• Help document design changes and organize project files
• Support team projects by sharing design ideas and feedback

• Basic CAD experience (SolidWorks or Fusion 360 preferred)
• Familiarity with 3D printing or interest in learning
• Interest in or willingness to learn 3D scanning and mesh handling
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn from feedback
• Ability to work independently and in a small team

• Interest in product design or mechanical systems
• Basic understanding of how parts fit and function
• Experience using or learning 3D scanning software
• Creative problem-solving and curiosity about new technology
