depository institutions.

The position supports WOCCU’s proactive and responsive strategy. The proactive strategy focuses on thought leadership,

still developing.

This position will be expected to develop subject matter expertise on advocacy issues relevant to credit unions, make well reasoned judgments, and foresee possible outcomes. This position further requires the ability to communicate, through

written and oral communications, these policies’ implications for credit unions to a broad audience in an informative and

This position requires an advanced degree - a Master’s, Ph.D. or Juris Doctor degree, fluency in English, and a minimum of two to five years of experience in financial services, international policy making or similar areas. Fluency in Spanish is also preferred.

Advocacy & Representation: Within two years of employment, be able to act as a representative of WOCCU before international organizations and national governments, including attending consultative meetings. Support Advocacy-related research on priority topics as assigned. Contribute to responses to inquiries made by WOCCU members on policy or regulatory issues. Contribute to the research and writing of comment letters, consultation responses, white papers, position papers and other written documents related to financial policy issues, as well as summaries of proposed and final regulatory standards. Work with the VP for Advocacy and International Advocacy and Regulatory Counsel to reach strategic goals of the department and WOCCU generally. Contribute to the coordination of major events, conferences, and meetings organized by WOCCU and the European Network of Credit Unions. Monitor relevant legal and policy developments. Assist WOCCU members as needed with national-level implementation of international standards. Interact with staff, board members, external parties such as World Council member organizations and financial policymakers with courtesy and discretion.
