Status: Full-time (Initial 3–4 week block), transitioning to On-Call/Substitute

Pay: $48/hour

Reports to: High School Principal

Location: Olivette, MO

Start Date: Immediate Need (April 2026)

About Miriam High School

Since expanding our program in 2016, Miriam High School has been dedicated to serving high school students with complex learning challenges. In the coming school year, we are adding 7th and 8th grade classes to our High School campus. As a private, independent high school located in Olivette, we prepare neurodiverse students for college, vocational training, or the workforce through small group instruction, specialized curricula, and a highly caring faculty.

Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist (OT) assesses gross motor, fine motor, and sensory processing skills for students and provides appropriate interventions to improve deficit areas. The OT is responsible for delivering professional assessments of student strengths and weaknesses and developing therapy goals that allow students to successfully access the general education curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment & Goal Development: Provide comprehensive professional assessments of student needs and develop therapy goals aligned with the general education curriculum.
  • Direct Intervention: Deliver sensory activities and treatments required for optimal student learning and sensory regulation.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Write and update therapy goals, maintain detailed progress notes
  • Collaboration: Maintain regular contact with parents, guardians, and other professionals to ensure coordinated treatment efforts and provide educational updates.
  • Compliance: Administer the OT program in accordance with school, state, and federal guidelines, following all instructions from the supervisor or school staff.
Requirements: Required Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Certification: Current Missouri State Licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience: At least two years of experience providing Occupational Therapy treatment to children and/or adolescents.
  • Skills: Strong ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and a passion for assisting students with diverse learning profiles.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (or 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
    • Note: Candidates must be available for an initial full-time block in April before moving to an on-call substitute schedule.
  • Physical Activity: This is a highly active role requiring the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crawl throughout the day.
  • Lifting: Ability to frequently lift and/or move items weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Background: Satisfactory completion of background check, reference checks, and degree verification is required.
