Survey Party Chief at Grayson Carter and Son Contracting

Position Title: Party Chief- Surveyor

Department: Field Operations

Supervisor: Survey Manager

Location: Athens, AL

Essential Job Functions:

Interface with field personnel, civil engineers, and project managers to develop detailed design documentation
Examine land boundaries and property lines by researching previous land records, survey records, and other documentation
Survey the site to gather information and precise measurements on geographic, hydrographic, and topographic features
Utilize a variety of survey equipment daily such as base and rovers, grade rods, laser levels, equipment GPS systems, etc.
Use Topcon software and technology to complete tasks
Cut and clear brush and trees from the line of survey, using brush hook, knife, ax, or other cutting tools
Places stakes at designated points and drives them into the ground at specified elevation, using a hammer or hatchet
Marks points of measurement with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks
Assists in the operation of conventional and satellite survey equipment for completion of survey projects, Loads equipment for transport to worksite; unloads equipment from vehicle to the worksite
Identifies and utilizes survey equipment properly
Adheres to all company safety and security policies
Maintain a high level of quality work at all times
Maintain good relationships with Technicians, Foreman, Superintendents, Inspectors, Developers, and other co-workers at all times
Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks
Perform other duties as assigned
Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

2+ years of construction survey experience
Knowledge of Topcon GPS System
Ability to understand written material and basic math skills
Ability to communicate and convey information effectively
Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds
Knowledge of OSHA Standards
Ability to obtain Arsenal and FBI Badge preferred, but not required
Requires personal transportation to job sites
Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required
Work weekends and overtime as needed
Committed to attending work each day
Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
