Overview
This is a full-time, hybrid career opportunity based out of our Corporate Headquarters location in Lancaster, PA.
The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee financial accounting and month-end activities for the holding company, bank, and non-bank subsidiary entities, including staff management, design and execution of internal controls (SOX), and monthly variance commentary. The incumbent in this position will have a strong technical accounting background, including understanding of balance sheet derivatives, mortgage servicing rights (MSR), corporate tax accounting, fixed assets, lease accounting, sale-leaseback transactions, equity method investments, branch-related transactions and business combination accounting.
Responsibilities
- Direct the preparation, review and delivery of general ledger entries related to certain expense accruals, equity method investment accounting, MSRs, commercial customer interest rate derivatives, balance sheet hedges, allowance for credit losses, and prepaid accounts.
- Design and oversee the execution of internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with applicable regulations (SOX 404), and financial accounting integration requirements related to mergers, acquisitions and consolidations.
- Work closely with the general ledger reconcilement team on resolving certain reconciling items, including in more complex areas such as merchant accounting, investment accounting and accounting for loans and deposits. Oversee the completion of certain general ledger reconcilements.
- Lead, promote and support broader corporate and department initiatives, including change management, audits, organizational planning and mergers and acquisitions.
- Lead the continuous improvement and automation of financial processes and accounting software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Proactively work with business lines on addressing accounting related items, issues, and new processes when applicable.
- Align staff to required workloads, develop efficiencies through teamwork and cross-training, and ensure effective utilization of resources.
- Maintain strong employee morale and foster a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: Accounting, Finance, or other applicable. (Required)
Master's Degree or the equivalent experience. Specialty: Business Administration (MBA). (Preferred)
Experience10 or more years combined Corporate Financial Accounting and Public Accounting experience. (Required)
5 or more years management. (Required)
2 or more years public accounting experience; Big Four (preferred). (Required)
CertificationsCertified Public Accountant (CPA). (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Strong leadership and communication skills to be able to manage across the organization and lead a team to the next level of best practices. ()
- Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization ()
- General understanding of SEC reporting requirements ()
- Proven experience overseeing month-end and year-end financial close activities. ()
