About This Position

Description:

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Director, the Part-Time IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing day-to-day, on-site, and remote technology support for the Edwardsville YMCA. This position averages approximately 9 hours per week, with a flexible and negotiable schedule. The role is primarily focused on operational support functions, including basic troubleshooting, user assistance, and technology setup. The specialist works in close collaboration with an external IT consultant who provides guidance, training, and advanced technical support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Day-to-Day Support

  • Provide front-line support for staff technology needs (password resets, login issues, basic troubleshooting)
  • Assist with internet connectivity and network-related issues
  • Troubleshoot common hardware and software issues (computers, printers, phones)
  • Other duties as assigned

On-Site Tech Support

  • Set up and support technology for meetings, events, and programs (Zoom, presentations, AV equipment)
  • Ensure meeting spaces and shared technology are functional and ready for use

Equipment & Systems Support

  • Assist with setup, maintenance, and basic upkeep of computers and devices
  • Help track and organize IT equipment inventory
  • Support onboarding/offboarding of staff from a technology standpoint (accounts, devices, access)

Coordination with IT Consultant

  • Serve as the on-site liaison for IT-related needs
  • Escalate complex issues to the IT consultant and assist with implementation of solutions
  • Learn and apply basic IT best practices through ongoing training

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Basic knowledge of computers, networks, and common software (Microsoft,Google, email, Zoom)
  2. Basic proficiency in YMCA’s software systems (CRM, accounting, phones, payroll, etc.) is expected within 90 days.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
  4. Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical staff
  5. Strong customer service mindset and responsiveness
  6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple small tasks
  7. Prior YMCA and/or IT support or help desk experience preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift and carry items appropriate to the position.
  • Must be able to perform duties while standing and actively moving for extended periods on varying surfaces.
  • Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency.
  • Work will be performed indoors.
  • Must be able to coordinate various large and small tasks simultaneously and positively handle tension and stress.
