Job Overview:
The LPN of Associates in Internal Medicine will assist the Physician, Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Physicians’ Assistants (PA) in various aspects of medical treatment and testing. LPN maintains exam rooms and equipment. Assures an orderly flow of patients to be seen by the Physician, NP, and PA. Functions include being part of the patient care team in efforts to achieve goals established for both the individual patient and the clinical service. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years' experience
- Must be able to perform manual vitals, administer injections, and perform POC testing
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Licensed Practical Nurse Certification
- Valid NJ state licensure
- BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements:
- Shift working, 9:00am - 5:30pm
- Monday - Friday
- 1–2 Saturdays per month: 9:00am - 3:00pm. (One day off in that week when working a Saturday)
- Full-Time
- Occasional coverage in Florham Park, NJ
Essential Functions:
- Communicates with insurance providers and handles pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary
- Communicates with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner
- Creates and maintains health record information, files and organizes as needed
- Performs clinical tasks such as blood draws, EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration, treatments and minor surgeries as needed
- Prepares rooms, arranges instruments and equipment, and ensures a neat and sanitary environment
- Room patients, verify patient information, confirm the purpose of the visit, obtain and record vitals and update medical history
- Supports practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-payring lab requests, and other clerical tasks as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
