Royal Vista Veterinary Specialists is looking for a Lead Specialty Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
This role is responsible for leading and maintaining a technical staff that embodies the core values of Empathy, Service, Accountability, Team, Exploration, and Joy. The position oversees the training, performance, scheduling, and evaluation of technical staff within specialty departments. Additionally, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for all technical inquiries, concerns, and issuesboth on and off premisesrelated to specialty departments. As a full-time, salaried, exempt position, you'll report directly to the Practice Manager.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • The Lead Technician should ideally hold an RVT/LVT/CVT certification and have 2+ years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Must be an excellent leader.
  • Must be well-organized and capable of multitasking effectively
  • Has a minimum of 2 years' experience as an emergency veterinary technician
Role Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and conduct interviews and skill assessments for all potential technical staff new hires in the specialty departments.
  • Appropriately schedulespecialtytechnical staff to maximize coverage and minimize overtime while addressing 24/7 caseload needs, including overseeing technical responsibilities for patients and approving requested time off.
  • Share responsibility with the Lead Emergency Technician to ensure inventory is fully stocked and that necessary maintenance is completed.
  • Provide medical, behavioral, and performance expectations to emergency technical staff.
  • Oversee emergency technical staff performance with guidance from the Practice Manager to ensure quality control and consistency in task completion.
  • Regularly review emergency technical staff to ensure they understand clear expectations and how their performance aligns with them.
  • Communicate with the Practice Manager and/or Lead Emergency Technician regarding specialty equipment performance and maintenance to guarantee functionality.
  • Collaborate closely with the Practice Manager and the entire administrative team to ensure consistent practices throughout the hospital.
  • Act as the primary resource manager for specialtytechnical staff.
  • As assigned by the Practice Manager, oversee training for specialtytechnical staff in relevant technical skills for their specific departments.
  • Schedule regular meetings for specialty technical staff and ensure all action items from each meeting are completed before removing them from the to-do list.
  • Inventory orders, inventory intake, invoice service codes, equipment procurement for specialtyservices, and equipment maintenance for specialty services.
  • General facility oversight and knowledge, including handling or delegating first responses to urgent specialty department needs.

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at$30 - 36/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
