QC Technician (Lab Tech) at Palmetto Corp. of Conway – Greer, South Carolina

Responsibilities:

• HMA QC Lab Technician will be responsible for sampling and testing Hot Mix Asphalt and aggregate properties in a laboratory setting in accordance to contract documents.
• HMA Field Technician will be responsible for on-site testing Hot Mix Asphalt applied to SCDOT, Municipal and commercial projects in accordance to contract documents.
• Complete all applicable testing documentation/reports.
• Properly maintain all lab and field testing equipment.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all organizational safety policies and procedures using appropriate tools and PPE.
• Perform mathematical calculations to control, troubleshoot and verify physical and volumetric properties.
• Operate testing equipment and company vehicles in a proper and safe manner.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior testing experience on civil engineering projects or in the heavy highway industry preferred but not required.
• Material testing certifications preferred but not required.
• Understanding of SCDOT specifications and standard practices preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals.
• Ability to travel.
• Valid driving license with driving record that meets organizational requirements.

Requirements

• Ability to work overtime when necessary.
• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
