SALARY RANGE
$21.00 - $25.53 per hour. Approximately (20-28) hours per week with a varied schedule including evenings, weekends and selected holidays for City events or programs.
The Community Services Coordinator is a member of the Recreation and Community Services Department. The position is responsible for assisting in the formulation of a variety of recreation & community services programs including but not limited to: aquatics, youth and adult sports, Summer Parks Programs, special events, senior programs, community services, marketing, and more. There are currently two openings in the following programs: One (1) Youth & Adult Sports, and one (1) Aquatics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator, the part-time Community Services Coordinator is required to perform the following essential job functions:
- Plan, organize, implement, and coordinate recreation, sports and/or aquatic programs for youth, teens, adults, and seniors.
- Provide outreach through initiating, designing, producing, and distributing a variety of promotional, marketing, informational materials, graphic design and social media marketing.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of community-wide special events.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; develop written reports; assist in budget preparation; obtain sponsorships and perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Coordinator.

- The ideal candidate should possess working knowledge of coordinating and directing a variety of recreation programming and events for a variety of age groups.
- Work effectively with the public, including, but not limited to market recreation programs and classes.
- Demonstrate effective customer service while promoting the organizational values of the City.
- First aid, health and safety practices, knowledge of recreation programs and facilities.
- Knowledge and understanding of current American Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor requirements.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment involved in the maintenance and operation of swimming pools.
- Follow written and oral directions, while exercising initiative and independence.
- Establish and maintain positive, team-oriented working relationships with other City employees.
- Be able to lift over their head, twist, and turn a minimum of ten (10) pounds
- Be able to stand for a long period of time either indoors or outdoors.
- Be able to work a flexible work schedule including weekend, evening, and holiday hours.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Equivalent of two (2) years of college, including course work in recreation, human services, or a related field and/or a minimum of two (2) years of responsible higher level recreation programming experience in a municipal recreation department.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED required upon hire.
- For aquatics position, must obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- For aquatics position, possession of Water Safety Instructor certification preferred but not required
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
