About This Position
Job Summary:
The Regional Controller is an individual who can elicit high levels of personal trust and confidence from peers, direct reports, and existing/potential customers as well as vendors. The Regional Controller provides direct leadership of all accounting functions for the respective region. The position oversees the financial well-being of the region by providing accounting ownership and services, leading the monthly close process (most notably the WIP), managing and developing accounting support staff/functions and coordinating the cash management process including Accounts Payable/Billing/Accounts Receivable. Managing working capital and cash flow and develops weekly forecasts.
The Regional Controller will support the regional leadership team with key financial information and operational analytics, implement accounting policies and procedures as directed by the Corporate Controller commensurate with GAAP and any new or anticipated accounting standard changes. Provide direct supervision to the regional administrative staff to drive a sense of urgency and a culture of accountability in managing and adding value to each operating business to make the close and reporting process more efficient.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
· Oversees the daily workflow of the regional accounting and finance functions of the company.
· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
· Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Develop thorough understanding of Regional strategy, business operations, culture and competition with particular knowledge around key Finance customer/functions. Be a strategic thinker who anticipates emerging business needs and works with internal customers to identify business solutions that support the overall objectives.
- Provide ongoing financial analysis of results, analyze variances, and develop improvements utilizing the MD&A format.
- Prepare workpapers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances. Lead monthly accounting close process including analytical review of operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
- Ensure maintenance and reconciliation of fixed asset records including leases.
- Develop, update and provide key performance metrics to the business and recommendations on how to improve results (accruals, trial balance, expenses, monthly reforecasts and EBITDA) as needed.
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed monthly. Review with Corporate Controller quarterly.
- Ensure timely compliance with accounting and audit processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations. Establish and monitor internal controls required to grow and manage the overall business and reconcile any issues or discrepancies. Support the external audit process with timely request submissions.
- Produce all regional financial projections and budgets. Keeps Corporate Controller abreast of the region’s financial status.
- Conduct meaningful proactive analysis to improve key business decisions on the management of working capital.
- Supervise the business’s process in order to select weekly/monthly/quarterly payments in accordance with the financial obligations and liquidity levels of the business.
- Effectively lead the accounting team by hiring and retaining top-grade talent; Address and develop performance and career development requirements.
- Oversee risk management plan including supporting the Corporate Controller in preparing for annual renewal and to ensure adherence to corporate standards and protocol including annual insurance audits.
- Drive internal and external communication interactions including location/business leadership suppliers, partners, and customers as appropriate.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing needs.
- Work hand-in-hand with regional management to steer the region.
- Prepare the monthly WIP reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain accurate cash forecast.

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred. Five (5) years of experience in an Accounting role in a Company.
· Prior experience in construction and/or service-related industry preferred.
· Construction (percentage of completion) and/or project accounting experience required.
· Private equity experience preferred.
· CPA and/or other financial certification preferred; CCIFP a plus.
· Experience working with auditors.
· Experience with ERP system; Sage 300 CRE a plus; Service Trade a plus; Tableau a plus.
Environment Job Requirements:

· Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
· There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
· The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
· Duties are subject to stressful pressures and deadlines.
· Travel expected approx. 20%.
