Role Overview
This role sits at the intersection of AI, product, and public education systems. You will lead the design, deployment, and scale-up of AI-driven education solutions focused on foundational literacy, reading fluency, and digital learning, while also contributing to partnerships, funding, and portfolio expansion across the Global South.
What You Will Do
A. Product Strategy and Ownership
Define the vision, roadmap, and success metrics for AI-powered education products
Translate ambiguous learning challenges into clear product strategies and priorities
Align product direction with national education priorities and system needs
Continuously refine product direction based on data, feedback, and field insights
B. End-to-End Product Execution
Lead the full product lifecycle from discovery and design to deployment and iteration
Work closely with engineering and AI teams to build high-quality learning solutions
Drive structured execution through sprint planning, backlog management, and releases
Ensure usability, teacher adoption, and real-world effectiveness
C. AI Solution Deployment and Integration
Anchor deployment of AI tools within classrooms and public education systems
Adapt solutions to local contexts including infrastructure, pedagogy, and policy
Ensure integration with existing education platforms and assessment systems
Identify and resolve bottlenecks in implementation and adoption
D. Stakeholder Engagement and Adoption
Engage with government officials, educators, and program stakeholders
Translate technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical users
Build strong relationships to drive adoption and sustained usage
Incorporate classroom and field feedback into product improvements
E. Partnerships and Ecosystem Development
Build relationships with governments, multilaterals, foundations, and EdTech partners
Support development of strategic partnerships to enable program scale
Contribute to WAIG’s presence in priority education markets
Convert early engagement into structured, long-term opportunities
F. Grants and Program Development
Support development of proposals, concept notes, and funding applications
Translate product ideas into compelling, fundable program narratives
Align solutions with donor priorities and system-level needs
Ensure proposals are grounded in execution feasibility
G. Portfolio Shaping and Expansion
Identify the right mix of pilots, products, and scaled programs
Balance innovation with scalability and long-term sustainability
Support decisions on where to invest, expand, or refine efforts
Contribute to building a coherent education portfolio
H. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with educators, product teams, engineers, and data scientists
Act as the bridge between pedagogy, technology, and field execution
Ensure product decisions reflect both learning science and operational realities
Drive alignment across teams working toward shared outcomes
What You Will Own
You will lead the design and scale-up of AI-driven education initiatives across the Global South, owning outcomes from early problem definition through to system-level deployment. This includes product strategy, solution design, execution quality, and stakeholder alignment across governments and partners.
Success in this role means building AI-powered education solutions that are widely adopted, pedagogically effective, operationally sustainable, and capable of delivering measurable improvements in foundational learning outcomes.
What We Are Looking For
7–10 years of experience in product management, EdTech, digital learning, or technology-driven education programs
Strong understanding of foundational literacy, early-grade learning, and public education systems
Experience building or scaling digital/AI-enabled education solutions
Ability to work across cross-functional teams including engineering and data science, while effectively engaging with external stakeholders such as governments, donors, and institutions
Experience or exposure to partnerships, business development, or grant writing, with the ability to translate opportunities into structured, fundable programs
Strong problem-solving and structured thinking, with the ability to operate in ambiguous and evolving environments
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 40%) and work closely with on-ground teams across project countries in Africa or Southeast Asia, based on program needs
