- The Accountant III will be responsible for all aspects of property accounting for a portfolio of properties, preparing or reviewing office lease abstracts, preparing or reviewing deliverables for the month-end close and additional technical accounting tasks as necessary. This role includes responsibilities for all of the organization’s Office and Industrial properties and all Residential properties, regardless of the ownership entity. This role will also support the financial reporting processes.

- Support the financial reporting process through preparation or review of schedules and reconciliations used in the preparation of various financial statements and regulatory filings. This may include compilation and review of support used to tie out the values presented in these filings.
- Review deliverables submitted by Accountant II and Accountant I personnel.
- Complete the monthly close, prepare property operating statements, book monthly accruals, and provide explanations for budget to actual variances.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Research inquiries from senior management during the monthly and quarterly closes.
- Prepare tax and operating expense recovery billings.
- Abstract lease documents into the accounting ledger or review the abstracts of others.
- Review and post monthly fixed charges..
- Collaborate with Collections and Property Management departments to provide information and resolve tenant inquiries as needed.
- Assist with training of other accountants.
- Assist with special projects or assignments, as necessary.
- Strong analytical skills.

- High level of interpersonal communication skills; ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing.

- Strong attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, abstracting lease data.
- Capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to establish priorities and manage multiple competing tasks, demands, and deadlines.
- Four-year Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA preferred.
- 5-10 years training as an Accountant, experience in real estate environment preferred.
- Knowledge of Yardi Software.
- Intermediate Excel spreadsheet skills.
- Attention to Detail: Focus on all aspects of a project or task without neglecting any relevant data or information.
- Communication: Interact with employees at many levels of the organization and must have the ability to express ideas and information orally and in writing keeping in mind the intended audience.

- Accounting control: Analyze statistical and accounting information and employ cost containment strategies that support business objectives of the organization.

- This position is based in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
The actual base pay offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. Base pay is one component of B. F. Saul Company & Affiliates total compensation package, which also includes access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, bonus plans and more.
