Job Overview
The Director of Finance will oversee all financial activities of the organization, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, reporting, cash management, and compliance. This role will serve as a key strategic partner to leadership, helping drive profitability, optimize costs, and support data-driven decision-making across a multi-location, event-based business model.
Requirements:Responsibilities and Duties
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategy aligned with company growth goals
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on financial analysis
- Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes
- Build and maintain financial models to support event performance, revenue forecasting, and expansion planning
- Analyze key business drivers including event profitability, cost per acquisition, and inventory purchasing trends
- Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to leadership
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital needs
- Oversee financial aspects of high-volume purchasing operations (estate buying events)
- Implement controls around cash handling and asset security across events
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
- Manage audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Develop and enforce internal controls and financial policies
- Build, lead, and develop the finance and accounting team
- Establish scalable processes and systems to support company growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or MBA preferred)
- 7–10+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership roles
- Experience in multi-location, retail, events, or asset-based businesses strongly preferred
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a growing company
- Experience with inventory-heavy or purchasing-focused businesses is a plus
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
