As the leader of Patient Access Services and Centralized Financial Clearance/Authorization, you’ll be at the heart of the patient journey—making sure every visit starts smoothly, every detail is accurate, and every patient feels supported from the very first interaction.
You’ll oversee the teams and systems that keep patient access running efficiently, ensure care is financially secured, and remove barriers to patient flow across the organization. This role blends strategy, collaboration, and problem‑solving, with the freedom to innovate and make a real impact on both patient experience and organizational success.
What you will do!
- Provide system-wide oversight for access to services provided at the facility and financially securing patient care prior to or at time of care, including staff performing registration and hospital admissions, point of service collections, and registration-related compliance
- Responsible for avoidance of bad debts related to unauthorized hospitalizations or procedures, un-sponsored care or incorrect patient payer or demographic data, and enhances patient/family and physician/provider satisfaction with access to services
- Process appropriate patient status assignments and changes to bed placement
- Manage centralized scheduling, pre-registration, and patient estimates functions conducted within Financial Clearance or Patient Access departments
- Works with Revenue Cycle leadership, clinical directors and physicians to address capacity issues that create barriers to patient flow
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrolled in or completed Bachelor’s degree in related healthcare field and minimum of 5 years’ experience in the management of hospital patient access, pre-authorization and/or financial clearance staff and processes; OR Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years’ experience in the management of a corresponding department supporting both patient care and revenue cycle
- Previous supervisor experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience with knowledge of all government and commercial payor requirements in hospital and clinic settings, to ensure timely verification of coverage, authorization for medically necessary care and prescribed medications
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to function in a confidential and highly responsible manner
- Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated experience with Excel, Power Point and Word and ability to learn multiple electronic medical record systems
- Strong analytical and leadership skills with demonstrated record of collaborative leadership.
