Maintenance Technician in Bushnell, Florida at Sumter County Board of County Commissioners

<strong><u>GENERAL DESCRIPTION:</u></strong> <br /> <br />Performs skilled work in the overall maintenance of County-owned; facilities, historical markers, parks, cemeteries, and trails

<strong><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</u></strong><br /> <br /><ul><li>Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions, applicable building codes, or regulations.</li><li>Knowledge of mechanical and electrical trade procedures.</li><li>Knowledge of grounds keeping practices and principles in accordance with the Division’s standard operating procedures.</li><li>Knowledge of principles and methods of operating equipment used for park, buildings, office repair, carpentry, custodial, basic electrical, irrigation, masonry, plumbing, painting, and related work.</li><li>Skill in the operation and maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment of the trades.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret plans specifications, schematic drawings, and wiring diagrams.</li><li>Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and to make necessary reports.</li><li>Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking principles to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.</li><li>Ability to make inspections for needed repairs.</li><li>Ability to use standard tests and hand tools.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to understand, issue, and carry out verbal and written directions.</li><li>Ability to use a computer, tablets, and asset management software.</li></ul> <br /><strong><u>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</u></strong><br /> <br /><ul><li>Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.</li><li>One (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, parks, and facilities</li><li>Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, parks, and facilities (preferred)</li></ul> <br /><strong><u>LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:</u></strong><br /><br /><ul><li>Valid Florida Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the insurance provider.</li><li>Must possess or obtain the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) certifications within six (6) months of employment.</li></ul>
