Job Description
Job Objective/ Summary
Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold and deliver linens and clothing. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean, safe, organized and sanitary fashion at all times. Work area may include isolation areas.
Essential Functions
- Carry linens, towels using wheeled carts.
- Efficiently collect soiled linens multiple times a day, sort, wash, dry, fold and deliver a variety of clothing and linens.
- Accurately complete all assignments within the scheduled time frame.
- Clean common area bathrooms on weekends.
- Keep storage areas well-stocked, clean and tidy.
- Replenish supplies, such as linens and towels in all required areas.

- Attends and participates in orientation, training and educational activities as required.
- Dresses appropriately, following appropriate dress and uniform policies and guidelines.
- Must be able to maintain consistent attendance as per job requirements and policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to The Estates at Carpenters’ policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintain confidentiality and respects resident’s privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance and punctuality record.
Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience
Six months experience in nursing home or motel/hotel laundry environment is preferred. Must have the ability to read and understand English. Must possess a positive attitude, work well with fellow team members and have desire to serve and assist the elderly.

- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

- Extent Flexibility – the ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.

- Must successfully pass the mandated criminal background checks.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks.
- Must be able to provide official grade transcripts of the education level provided on the employment application.
- Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation.
- Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must have valid driver’s license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record (if required to drive).
- Must safely and efficiently operate all assigned equipment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, stretch, turn and lift for an extended period of time.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category I
Your tasks routinely involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or other contaminated materials. In compliance with OSHA standards on blood borne pathogens, The Estates at Carpenters will offer Hepatitis B vaccine to all employees who are determined to be at risk of exposure to blood or other body fluids and follow up to all employees who have had an exposure incident. This vaccine will be provided at no cost to the employee.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this position, a Housekeeper, is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stretch, twist, and reach for extended periods of time.
