O V E R V I E WThe Hobby Center’s Technology and Network Systems Analyst supports a dynamic, multi-building technology environment that powers live performances, public-facing operations, and daily business functions.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on network reliability, on-site IT support, SharePoint collaboration standards, and managed technology change. Working closely with the Technology Director, this position provides operational ownership of connectivity, infrastructure support, and user-facing systems helping ensure technology performs reliably during performances, events, and normal business operations.
This role contributes to technology governance and change management efforts by supporting consistent standards, clear documentation, and effective communication around system and process changes.
M A J O R F U N C T I O N S
Network, Connectivity & Infrastructure Support
· Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity issues across offices, performance spaces, and shared campus areas.
· Support on-site IT infrastructure, including network closets, MDF/IDF environments, and shared technology spaces.
· Respond to and triage technology incidents impacting ticketing operations, front-of-house systems, and staff productivity.
· Assist with temporary and permanent network needs related to events, performances, and operational changes.
· Coordinate with external service providers during escalations, outages, and infrastructure work.
Incident Response & Operational Continuity
· Provide rapid response to high-impact technology issues in live, event-driven environments.
· Perform initial incident assessment, documentation, and escalation when needed.
· Participate in post-incident reviews and assist with corrective actions to reduce repeat disruptions.
SharePoint & Collaboration Platform Support
· Support the organization’s SharePoint environment, ensuring document libraries, permissions, and structures are maintained consistently.
· Assist with enforcing SharePoint governance standards related to document organization, access, and appropriate platform usage.
· Help departments transition to standardized document management practices that improve consistency, security, and ease of access.
· Provide user support and guidance on effective use of SharePoint and related collaboration tools.
Change Management & Technology Governance
· Support technology change management efforts to ensure system updates, infrastructure changes, and process improvements are implemented smoothly and with minimal disruption.
· Assist in reinforcing technology standards, governance practices, and usage guidelines across systems and departments.
· Help document and communicate technology changes in a clear, user-friendly manner to support adoption and reduce recurring issues.
· Partner with IT leadership to ensure operational changes align with organizational policies and best practices.
Microsoft 365 & End-User Technology Support
· Support Microsoft 365 and Entra ID user access, licensing, and authentication needs.
· Provide hands-on support for Windows and macOS devices.
· Support printers, conference room A/V systems, and collaboration technology.
· Assist with technology onboarding and offboarding for staff.
Documentation, Standards & Knowledge Management
· Maintain accurate documentation for network environments, support procedures, and system standards.
· Contribute to operational runbooks and technology standards that support consistency and scalability.
· Assist with creating staff-friendly guides and training materials to improve adoption and reduce repeat support requests.
Cross-Department & Facilities Coordination
· Work collaboratively with Facilities, Operations, Front of House, and administrative teams to support campus-wide technology needs.
· Support IT aspects of office moves, renovations, and operational changes.
· Serve as a reliable on-site technical partner during vendor-supported projects.

C O M P E N S A T I O N
The Hobby Center offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, a 403b savings plan with matching employer contributions, mobile phone stipend, parking, and paid time off. The anticipated hiring range for this position is $70,000-$80,000 annually.

The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts deepens understanding of our shared humanity. We serve as a connector, convenor, and incubator for all Houston audiences, artmakers and arts organizations. Opened in 2002, the Hobby Center campus houses two theaters including the 2,650-seat Sarofim Hall and the 500-seat Zilkha Hall. Since 2012, the Hobby Center has been a national leader in accessibility, presenting Sensory Inclusive performances and providing exemplary customer service via its Access Team at all public events. Over the past year and a half, the Hobby Center developed and is implementing a strategic plan that drastically shifts its role in the Houston arts community. The Programming and Education Department was a result of this plan's first steps.
