POSITION SUMMARY

The Wheelchair Clinic Assistant Supervisor provides leadership and operational support for Wheelchair Clinic, assisting the Wheelchair Clinic Supervisor with staffing, training, performance management, and program development. This role balances administrative oversight, process improvement, and direct patient care while fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current Colorado occupational therapy or physical therapy license or licensed in another state and application made for a Colorado license. Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) certification preferred. If an OT, registered by AOTA as an Occupational Therapist is required. Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association
  • Education: A degree in Occupational Therapy from a college or university accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association or a degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a therapist. SCI/TBI experience preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities: Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, including listening and conflict resolution. Excellent organization and customer service skills.  Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize and schedule accordingly while meeting established deadlines.  Must have the ability to handle highly confidential information. Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups. Must be able to successfully and effectively communicate with a variety of personnel. The ability to work independently with limited supervision. Able to maintain a high degree of accuracy, dependability, and strong attention to detail both mechanically and technically. Possess above average problem-solving skills, judgment, and flexibility. Teaching subject matter to others, or training others through explanation, demonstration and supervised practice. Able to master rehabilitation equipment/advanced rehab technology and provide this education to patients and staff. Highly motivated with a positive attitude.  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Trains, supervises and evaluates therapy aides and therapy staff as delegated by the Wheelchair Clinic Supervisor.

  • Assist with daily operational oversight and assume the duties of the Wheelchair Clinic supervisor in their absence.

  • Serves as a clinical resource person for the therapy staff.
  • Performs the essential job duties and responsibilities of the staff therapist as related to direct patient care, including treatment of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, adapting the treatment plan as needed.

  • Performs requests as outlined by the Wheelchair Clinic supervisor or the Director of Occupational Therapy.

  • Assists with program development along with the Wheelchair Clinic Supervisor and leadership team.

  • Follows hospital infection control policies, including body substance isolation and proper hand hygiene before and after contact with patients, handling of food, and after hands are contaminated with any body fluids, secretions or excretions.

  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and hold regular 1:1 check-ins with assigned staff.
  • Support staff career development (mentoring, growth opportunities, learning resources).

  • Provide direct patient care and clinical support as needed (approx. 50% productive time).

  • Assist other staff members as requested.
  • Assist with onboarding, cross-training and clinical mentoring.
  • Participate in special projects (program development, quality improvement, EPIC optimization).
  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date orientation and training processes.
