About This Position
Founded in 1985, the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) directs programs that improve Georgia’s environment, protect natural resources, and promote economic development. GEFA provides loans for water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure; manages energy efficiency and renewable energy programs; administers land conservation loans; and monitors state-owned fuel storage tanks. This is an exciting time to join the GEFA team as the state of Georgia makes historic investments in water and energy with federal and state funding. In the last five years, GEFA has executed over $2 billion in water infrastructure loans and grants to communities throughout Georgia. Much of this funding is dedicated to small and disadvantaged communities.
GENERAL SUMMARYGEFA is seeking an individual with initiative and critical problem-solving skills to join us as an Accounting Manager in the Financial Services Division. As the Accounting Manager in the Financial Services Division, you will use your skills and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of the people throughout the state of Georgia. This individual will analyze financial information and programs, identify financial trends, advise agency administrators in fiscal matters, and prepare range of financial reports, including specialized or non-standard reports. The individual will lead the Agency accounting operations. Under general supervision of the Director of Financial Services and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the individual also performs advanced professional accounting duties that require independent judgment and initiative, manages and coordinates the development and implementation of planning, funds management, policy development and budget development and expenditure control activities. The other responsibilities include the annual operating budget and for submission of comprehensive budgets involving multiple budget units of GEFA, establish/implement departmental accounting policies and procedures in accordance with statutory and professionally accepted standards, interact with agency administrators and staff, professional accountants, financial analysts, and auditors, monitors and evaluates accounting trends and innovations which may impact the practices of the accounting program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional accounting job-related experience, which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
