How You’ll Make an Impact:

The Buyer II is responsible for executing procurement activities to support production demand, ensuring materials and services are acquired in a cost-effective and timely manner. This role manages supplier performance, maintains accurate purchasing data, and collaborates cross-functionally with operations, quality, and finance to minimize risk to production schedules. The Buyer II exercises sound judgment, which operates with a high degree of integrity and contributes to continuous improvement within the supply chain function.

What you’ll be doing as a Buyer II:

  • Working a full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, CA location.
  • Manage day-to-day procurement of direct and indirect materials based on production requirements and planning signals.
  • Select, develop, and maintain supplier relationships to ensure quality, competitive pricing, and reliable on-time delivery.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms within established authority to support cost containment initiatives.
  • Create, issue, and maintain accurate purchase orders and related data within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Proactively monitor open orders, expedite critical materials, and communicate risks that may impact production.
  • Resolve supplier performance issues including late deliveries, quality concerns, shortages, and documentation gaps.
  • Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Operations to address nonconforming material, returns, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure purchases comply with company purchasing policies and delegation of authority.
  • Analyze spend, identify variances, and provide reporting or recommendations to management as needed.
  • Collaborate with Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies and support monthly close activities.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining organized and compliant purchasing documentation.
  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset to strengthen procurement processes, supplier performance, and data accuracy.
  • Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing workload within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, regulatory standards, and company policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):

  • Minimum of 4 years of purchasing or supply chain experience, including at least 2 years within a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong ethical standards and professionalism in supplier and internal partnerships.
  • Ownership mentality with the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risk and escalate appropriately.
  • Clear communicator capable of coordinating across multiple departments and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills and experience):

  • Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor performance.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing supply chains, material flow, and production planning concepts.
  • Analytical mindset with comfort reviewing spend data and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Continuous improvement orientation with experience supporting process enhancements.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Work is primarily performed in a machine shop environment with varying temperatures and potential exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and coolant vapors. Required safety equipment is provided and must be worn where designated.

Compensation and Benefits:

Employee Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; basic and supplemental life insurance; long-term disability; a 401(k) with up to a 6% QACA company match; paid time off including vacation, sick time, and nine (9) paid company holidays; shift differentials for applicable off-shifts; and discretionary bonus programs based on position and company performance.

The Buyer II Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $75,000 - 90,000 annually commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.}
