If you are not a “Corporate Type” and like to be trusted to succeed in your job, this may be the opportunity for you. Located in Springfield, Missouri, we are an independent, family owned, full-line foodservice distributor. Our company is a place where an individual can still make a difference and be recognized. We are proud to be one of the oldest firms in the nation, having been established in 1865 to serve the needs of the pioneer and post-Civil War community. Today we provide more than 20,000 line items to a broad range of foodservice customers throughout Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Tennessee and Mississippi.

SUMMARY

The Regional Facilities Manager will oversee the maintenance and operations of two distribution centers located in Springfield and Tulsa, along with multiple leased properties in a fast paced environment. This role focuses on ensuring reliable, compliant facilities that support the safe storage and handling of perishable and temperature-controlled products. The manager will develop preventive strategies, lead a team, resolve ongoing issues, and maintain strict adherence to food safety and regulatory standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a comprehensive facility maintenance strategy tailored to food distribution operations, including preventive maintenance programs for refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems to minimize downtime and ensure product integrity.

• Oversee and manage a team of maintenance technicians across multiple sites, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability.

• Identify, prioritize, and resolve current and emerging facility issues, such as refrigeration failures, temperature excursions, equipment breakdowns, or compliance gaps, while coordinating rapid responses with internal teams and certified vendors.

• Ensure optimal performance and compliance of critical systems, with a strong emphasis on refrigeration and cold storage (freon-based systems), temperature/humidity monitoring, and environmental controls to maintain food safety standards.

• Conduct regular multi-site inspections, audits, and temperature validation checks at distribution centers and leased properties, traveling between states as needed to verify conditions, enforce sanitation protocols, and implement corrective actions.

• Manage vendor relationships for specialized services ensuring timely service and cost control.

• Collaborate with operations, quality assurance, food safety, and supply chain teams to support facility projects, expansions, retrofits, or improvements that enhance efficiency, energy use, and product protection.

• Maintain full regulatory compliance across all locations, including FDA Food Code, USDA guidelines, OSHA, HACCP principles, GMP standards, and local health/safety regulations, while preparing for audits and inspections.

• Oversee emergency response protocols for facility-related incidents, such as power outages, or equipment failures that could impact food safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Professional certifications (e.g., CFM, RETA CARO/CIRO for refrigeration, or food safety credentials like HACCP) preferred.

• 5-8 years of progressive facilities management experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role; prior experience in food distribution, cold storage, warehousing, or perishable goods logistics.

• A combination of education, certifications and experience will be considered.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage diverse teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently between states and respond to after-hours emergencies.

• Working knowledge of OSHA, HACCP, and food safety practices.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency with facility management software, temperature monitoring systems, Microsoft Office, and reporting tools.

• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing preventive maintenance strategies, managing multi-site budgets, and reducing operational risks in regulated industries.

• In-depth technical knowledge of commercial HVAC, industrial refrigeration systems, electrical infrastructure, plumbing, and general building maintenance; proven ability to troubleshoot, specify repairs, and guide teams on complex systems

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in varying temperatures (dry, cooler, freezer environments).

• Frequent walking, standing, bending.

• Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies or urgent issues across multiple states, which may involve irregular hours, weekends, or holidays.
