About This Position

Description:

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for various seasonal positions to support its 2026 Summer Lunch Program. The goal of the Program is to provide nutritious meals for children at no cost during the summer at parks and other neighborhood locations throughout Liberty County. The program will operate June 1 – July 31, Monday through Friday except for federal holidays.

Employees will work under the supervision and guidance of the Program Coordinator. Mandatory training will be provided prior to the program start date. Excellent attendance and teamwork skills are a must. The following positions are available:

  • Site Supervisor
  • Kitchen Assistant
  • Delivery Driver
  • Program Volunteer

Apply by April 17, 2026. Job responsibilities, work schedules, and minimum requirements for each position are provided below. All positions pay $10.00/hour with the exception of the Program Volunteer, which is an unpaid role. Delivery Drivers also receive a mileage reimbursement at the State rate of $0.725 per mile when transporting meals.

The Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing an individual lunch site. Key duties include:

  • Serve pre-packaged lunches and beverages to children participating in the program at assigned lunch sites; assure that all meals are consumed on-site.
  • Provide adequate supervision to children during assigned meal service times.
  • Ensure a safe environment for children and adhere to health and safety regulations. Clean serving area at site prior to and after meal service daily.
  • Ensure that meals received are accurate and reflect number ordered prior to signing delivery receipt; report any inaccuracies immediately to Program Coordinator.
  • Complete all meal count forms as required. Determine meal counts for the next day's meals and notify Program Coordinator of amount daily.
  • Assist in or ensure completion of all required reporting. Turn in completed forms weekly to Program Coordinator.

Work Schedule:

  • 10am – 1pm Monday-Thursday
  • 10am – 2pm Friday

Minimum Requirements:

  • Age 18 or older by June 1.

The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for preparing meals for the lunch sites. Key duties include:

  • Prepare meals according to instructions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen, including tables, floors, and equipment.
  • Assist in tracking food supplies and ensuring they are stocked as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Work Schedule:

  • 7 - 11am Monday-Friday

Minimum Requirements:

  • Age 16 or older by June 1.

The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely transporting prepared meals to the lunch sites. Key duties include:

  • Transport prepared meals from the kitchen to the various lunch sites.
  • Load and unload meals from vehicle.
  • Provide courteous service to the Site Supervisors.

Schedule:

  • 9-11am Monday- Friday

Minimum Requirements:

  • Age 18 or older by June 1.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Reliable source of transportation.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry packages safely.

Program Volunteers help out in various roles described above. Hours vary. Minimum age 18.
