Position Overview

The Customer Service & Purchasing Intern will support various business functions, including customer service, inside sales, and purchasing, while assisting with critical projects that improve efficiency and organization. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting by working with customer interactions, internal sales processes, and purchasing operations.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

Customer Service/Inside Sales:

  • Develop a process and digital filing system for scanning and organizing Engineering Cover Sheets for pre-Epicor parts.
  • Follow up with customers regarding open quotes (under Daniela’s guidance).
  • Contact customers to check on repair and new pump performance, offering assistance as needed.
  • Assist with entering purchase orders to help free up team members for cross-training.

Purchasing:

  • Run open order reports to track outstanding purchase orders.
  • Follow up on late purchase orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Add purchasing comments to maintain clear communication with vendors.
  • Update purchase orders that haven’t been marked as "acknowledged."

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college degree program (Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement efficient filing systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in problem-solving.
  • Willingness to collaborate with multiple departments and adapt to different tasks.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Work is primarily conducted in a professional office setting.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, and other devices.
  • Occasional exposure to a shop environment with potential noise, dust, odors, and fumes when visiting the shop floor.
  • Physical activity includes typing on a computer, walking, sitting, bending, and stooping throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.
