Quality Control Inspector – Structural Fabrication
Location: Corvallis, Oregon
Compensation: $30.00 – $50.00 per hour (Dependent on experience and certifications)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
Greenberry Industrial is seeking a highly qualified Quality Control Inspector – Structural Fabrication with a strong structural welding background. This role is responsible for ensuring structural steel fabrication activities meet applicable codes, contract requirements, and Greenberry’s internal quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on structural welding experience, demonstrated expertise qualifying welding procedures to AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5, and practical knowledge of associated NDE requirements for structural steel fabrication.
Experience with pipe (ASME B31.3/B31.1) and pressure vessel (ASME Sec VIII), is a plus. Willing to cross train the right candidate across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
This role is primarily based in a structural fabrication facility and requires regular presence in active welding and assembly areas. Exposure to noise, dust, and industrial equipment is expected.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure structural fabrication activities comply with contract documents, drawings, client specifications, and applicable codes including AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5.
- Review structural drawings, welding symbols, and specifications to confirm inspection and quality requirements.
- Support and/or perform qualification of:
- Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ)
- Monitor structural welding activities for compliance with approved WPS and applicable AWS code requirements.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of structural weldments including:
- Fit-up and joint preparation
- Dimensional tolerances
- Weld profile and discontinuities
- Coordinate, document, and track required Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), including UT, MT, and PT as applicable.
- Verify NDE acceptance criteria in accordance with AWS D1.1/D1.5 and project specifications.
- Perform incoming material inspections and verify traceability documentation.
- Maintain complete and accurate inspection records, weld maps, travelers, and turnover documentation.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and quality in all fabrication operations.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication and welding inspection.
- Demonstrated experience qualifying welding procedures and welders in accordance with:
- AWS D1.1 – Structural Welding Code – Steel
- AWS D1.5 – Bridge Welding Code
- Strong working knowledge of structural welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, SAW as applicable).
- Experience coordinating and interpreting structural NDE results (UT, MT, PT).
- Ability to interpret structural fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and tolerance requirements.
- Strong understanding of inspection documentation and traceability requirements.
- Proficient computer skills and strong written documentation ability.
- Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Experience working with AISC quality requirements.
- Familiarity with ISO-based quality management systems.
- Previous fabrication shop inspection experience in heavy structural steel.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, climb, kneel, and work around active fabrication operations.
- Must be able to wear required PPE and work in an industrial shop environment.
