About the Opportunity

Meadowhawk Biolabs is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Scientist to work within the non-GLP Immunoanalytical Services Team at our Hayward, CA site. The ideal candidate is creative, hardworking, results focused, driven and has prior experience in Immunoanalytical assays (ligand binding assays for analysis of biologically derived samples). We are a Contract Research Organization (CRO) founded by an experienced team of industry veterans over 4 years ago, this position offers unique opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute meaningfully to the creation and development of our services, expand their knowledge base by participation in multidisciplinary teams, and advance their career in capabilities and responsibilities.

Position Summary:

The Principal Scientist I position marks the transition to a senior technical and operational role within the immunoanalytical group. For this role, individuals will be fully proficient in all aspects of standard and non-standard study designs, execution, analysis, and client communication. Relative to the prior position, individuals in this role will be responsible for developing emerging strategic skills as they apply to bioanalysis, including but not limited to the evaluation and development of new technologies, tools, processes, etc. Additionally, individuals in this role should have emerging leadership skills, full proficiency in client communications of standard matters, and developing communication skills for non-standard and/or very complex matters.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Apply deep technical knowledge and experience to optimize the design, development, and application of typical immunoanalytical methods for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies (using ELISA, MSD platforms).

· Drawing upon deep technical immunoanalytical experience and knowledge, develop novel approaches to method development and application necessary to achieve study objectives for non-routine studies.

· Be fully independent for routine instrument maintenance and progress toward the ability to provide solutions for atypical, infrequent issues.

· Be fully competent in all aspects of data processing and analysis, responsible for teaching and mentoring the development of this skill in more junior staff. Interpret and troubleshoot issues with more complicated and non-standard study data sets and make recommendations to address them.

· Proactively and timely communicate study status and any potential issues to the client and meet client expectations.

· Identify and lead process improvement opportunities of complexity and farther-reaching impact upon staff and operations.

· Identify, lead, and participate in collaborations of moderate complexity within and across departments.

· Lead in the development of and adhere to company regulatory and good science procedures and practices as well as other company policies, practices, and procedures.

· Proactively and effectively provide management of resource allocation to achieve both daily and mid-term department objectives.

· Serve as the client interface for programs of increasing complexity and/or volume, and be responsible for proactively communicating all study aspects, including but not limited to study status and any technical/scientific concerns.

· Train and mentor more junior staff on established procedures and practices as well as scientific and career related matters.

· Serve as a role model by living company values.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Experience in method development of ligand binding assays for assessment of pharmacokinetics and biomarkers (including anti-drug antibody assays).

· Experience in using ligand binding assays to analyze large sample sets.

· Demonstrated excellence in the use of Microsoft Office applications and comprehensive competencies in the use of scientific systems.

· Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills that motivate and lead others to achieve department and company goals and objectives

· Thrives working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment and able to cultivate and maintain business partner relationships through earned trust and respect

· Adapts readily, willingly, and effectively to changes in assignments and priorities

· Ability to abide by established processes and procedures with an attention to detail while recognizing when it’s appropriate to create new approaches to flexibly address requirements

· Ability to self-organize, multi-task and to operate effectively with no day-to-day oversight

· Knowledge of methods of lab automation.

· Independence and complete self-management in all aspects of position requirements. Demonstrates consistent sound judgment, integrity, and trust enabling leadership.

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or another related scientific field with a minimum of 8 years (BS) or 6 years (MS) directly related industry experience. Doctorate degree with at least 2 years of experience preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered as substitution for the specific requirements outlined above.

Compensation:

The target base salary for this position is between $123,000 - $163,000 per year. The specific rate for this position may vary and will be based upon factors including, but not limited to the individual’s experience, education, and skills. In addition to wages, Meadowhawk Biolabs provides a full benefits package upon hire date.
