Medical Billing Specialist in at Peak Dermatology

Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Position Summary:

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the medical billing and revenue cycle process, including claim submission, payment posting, denial management, charge entry, account reconciliation, and claims follow-up. This position ensures the timely and accurate billing of services rendered, maintains billing software and patient account records, appeals denied or underpaid claims, processes charge adjustments, and allocates payments appropriately.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Handle all payments come through mails for all locations.
• Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
• Ensure the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date.
• Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due for medical procedures and services.
• Collect and review referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Monitor and record late payments.
• Follow-up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.
• Examine patient bills for accuracy and request any missing information.
• Investigate and appeal denied claims.
• Handle calls from patients regarding bills.

Skills and Qualification:

• Proven work experience as a medical billing specialist.
• Adherence to laws and best practices regarding dealing with customers and data.
• Comfortable dealing with numbers and the processing of financial information.
• Proficiency in MS Office and billing software.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
• Aptitude to manage sensitive, confidential information.
• High School Diploma; further education in medical administration or relevant field will be appreciated.
