Cost Accountant

Position Summary:
The Cost Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Controller and Operations Manager by maintaining the monthly financial close process, preparing financial reports and presentations, ensuring internal controls, driving process improvements, assisting with budgeting, and handling special projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the monthly financial close process.
• Assist operations in managing plant MRO spending.
• Prepare and produce financial statements for the plant.
• Analyze plant financial results and project performance to help management identify operational improvements.
• Support the annual audit process by preparing work papers and reconciling with the general ledger.
• Assist in analyzing plant and project/job profitability.
• Contribute to the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and forecasts..
• Maintain and report on Fixed Assets (PPE) and CapEx (CIP).
• Handle various special projects and financial analyses.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles, with knowledge of percent-complete and project accounting in the construction industry preferred.
• Experience with standard and job costing.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
• Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Education & Experience:

• Required associate’s degree in finance/accounting.
