• Establish and model positive behaviors for children in their classrooms.
• Attend to the emotional, social and developmental needs for children.
• Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.

Part-time positions are paid an hourly rate and can work up to a maximum of 129 hours per month. Part-time positions are at-will, are not eligible for health or retirement benefits and do not accrue leave time with the exception of State-mandated sick leave (40 hours per year).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma and twelve (12) semester units of college level course work in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Psychology is required.

Experience: Equivalent to one (1) year working as a Preschool Instructor I in the City of Vacaville. Two (2) years work experience in a leadership capacity in a related youth-oriented or classroom environment is required.

License: Select positions may require the possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record as conditions of initial and continued employment. Must be at least 18 years of age if required to drive vehicles for City business.

Certification: Select positions may require the ability to obtain CPR & First Aid Certificates within 30 days of hire as a condition of continued employment.
