Spiritual Renewal Center (SRC) Cook

POSITION SUMMARY

Supervises kitchen duties by managing inventory, controlling food storage, food preparation and service to customers. Deliver quality, timely food to ensure that all customers are satisfied. Communicates effectively of any and all kitchen processes and needs to the Director.

I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

COOK DUTIES

• Prepare/cook/serve nutritious meals according to food, health and safety standards.
• Maintain an orderly, safe, and efficient kitchen per guidelines set by the Center and other protocols as necessary, including proper sanitizing/cleaning work stations and cookware.
• Purchase kitchen materials/supplies/ingredients based on the menu and market demand and product availability.
• Ensure that all food items and products are stored, prepared, and served based on the SRC’s recipe, preparation, and proper food rotation for cost effectiveness.
• Assist team members when needed, when available.

II. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred cook, and/or assistant cook experience.
• Must be able to communicate in English (speak, read, and write).
• Preferred current Food Handlers Certificate and/or Food Managers Certificate.
• Required retreat work schedule variations from regular week schedule.
• Must have adequate, available and reliable transportation.
• Compassionate personality, patient, responsible and committed to assisting others.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, multi-task and manage time both independently and as part of a team.
