About This Position
The Clinical Physicist I performs activities to assure the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy as prescribed by Radiation Oncology physicians. Clinical Physicist I will work under the supervision of licensed medical physicists and at the direction of the Director of Clinical Physics.
Minimum education required:
- Bachelors degree in Medical Physics or a related discipline
- Certification: Physicist in training required
Minimum experience:
1 year preferred
Level 2 physicist-Masters degree and FL License in Medical or Therapeutic Radiological Physics and three years in a radiation therapy department working in dosimetry and/or physics. Experience with external beam and brachytherapy clinical radiation applications. Knowledge of treatment planning equipment, radiation measuring equipment, calibration procedures, linear accelerator operation, brachytherapy and national protocols.
Job duties:
- Dosimetry Planning and Quality Assurance
- Provide technical support to the dosimetry team. Physicist may also be required to generate dosimetry plans for specialty procedures and as a backup for dosimetrists.
- Perform quality assurance on completed plans ensuring they are accurate and meet planning objectives specified by the physician.
- Troubleshoot daily issues on the accelerators. Contact service engineer when appropriate and provide support during and after accelerator maintenance.
