LPN II at Willis-Knighton Health System – Shreveport, Louisiana

8 Tower is a 21 bed Ortho/Neuro Unit. Our nursing staff are experienced in caring for orthopedic and spinal post-op patients in addition to many other medical surgical patients. Most common surgeries include: Total Joint Replacement (knee, hip, and shoulder); bone fractures with internal fixation, pinning and ankle repair. Spinal surgeries include: Spinal fusions, discectomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy, and 360 fusion (anterior/posterior) of the lumbar or cervical spine. The Nurse/Patient ratio is 1:5 or 1:6 with the Charge Nurse, RN, Unit Clerk and nursing assistants as support staff. Scheduling is based on 12-hour shifts; 7a.m or 7p.m. A 10-week orientation period with a preceptor will be provided to the new graduate. Experienced Nurses interested in working on this unit will also be provided an orientation based on their experience and level of comfort.
