Job Description
Summary/Objective
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing product quality throughout various stages of development to ensure adherence to established standards. Key duties include conducting visual inspections, documenting quality concerns, and developing processes to minimize product defects.
Essential Functions: Quality Assurance Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring the consistent quality of products and services. The Quality Assurance Supervisor daily responsibilities include conducting meticulous inspections and implementing quality standards to maintain excellence and compliance.
Responsibilities/Skills/Abilities:
• Utilizes independent judgment to develop plans to help a company manage waste
• Has authority to make decisions on signing off on the quality of work before delivering products to the next step in the supply chain. *
• Documenting and reporting product or service quality levels*
• Developing and implementing standards for inspection *
• Developing a workflow for product inspection*
• Communicating with other team members to solve problems
• Following up with the appropriate channels when mistakes are found
• Training other quality insurance members in all inspection processes

Work Experience Requirements:
• 5 years of experience as quality assurance auditor/technician in related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in a supervisory role.
• Good understanding of quality testing within the food industry to include analytical, microbiological and sensory evaluation.
• Must possess a basic understanding of chemical and microbiological analysis and basic math.
• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
• The ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment), meet deadlines (overtime work required) and make effective decisions.
Education/Knowledge Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree of Science preferably in Food Science or related field (Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.).
• Preferred: HACCP certification, PCQI certification, Allergen Control training, Food Recall training.
Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager
Supervisory responsibilities:
• Supervise and direct quality assurance technicians/auditors who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards.
Backup: Quality Assurance Manager
Physical Requirements:
• Work involves sitting most of the workday greater than 50% of the time. Walking and standing are required as needed.
• Typing and applying pressure with the fingers and palm required.
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
• Ability to retain and interpret data and information.
Work environment/Hours:
• The work environment: temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
• Full-time Office hours are typically 5:00AM-3:30PM, Monday-Thursday with occasional overtime.
Travel—percentage of travel time is expected for the position where the travel occurs, such as locally or in specific countries or states, and whether the travel is overnight.
Additional eligibility qualifications, additional requirements such as certifications, industry-specific experience and experience working with certain equipment.
