This role sits at the center of institutional fundraising strategy, responsible for cultivating and managing high-value foundation relationships that directly support large-scale social and environmental impact initiatives. You will steward a portfolio exceeding $6M in foundation revenue, ensuring strong engagement, accurate reporting, and long-term partnership growth. The position combines relationship management, strategic grant writing, and cross-functional collaboration with program and finance teams to translate complex impact work into compelling funding narratives. You will play a key role in shaping funder engagement strategy, from prospect qualification to renewal planning and reporting cycles. This is a highly collaborative role requiring both strategic thinking and strong execution in a mission-driven, justice-oriented environment. You will also supervise a junior team member, helping strengthen internal systems, research capacity, and grant operations.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for a $6M+ portfolio of foundation funders, developing tailored stewardship and engagement strategies to deepen long-term partnerships.
- Lead the development of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports that clearly communicate impact, strategy, and organizational priorities.
- Manage end-to-end grant cycles, including compliance tracking, reporting deadlines, renewal planning, and award condition monitoring.
- Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather accurate data, budgets, and outcomes for funder deliverables.
- Oversee funder engagement activities such as briefings, newsletters, and conferences in collaboration with leadership.
- Supervise and guide the Development Data and Research Coordinator, setting priorities for research, CRM management, and pipeline tracking.
- Translate foundation research and prospect insights into tailored fundraising strategies and compelling narratives.
- Maintain accurate and consistent CRM records of all funder interactions and portfolio activity.
- Partner with leadership to define annual fundraising goals and support overall resource mobilization strategy.
- Contribute to cross-functional collaboration across communications, programs, and finance to strengthen funder-facing materials and storytelling.
- Support internal learning, planning, and organizational culture initiatives aligned with mission and values.
- 3–5+ years of experience in foundation relations, institutional fundraising, or grant writing.
- Proven track record of managing a foundation portfolio and securing philanthropic grants.
- Experience writing and managing full-cycle grants including proposals, LOIs, and financial/impact reports.
- Strong understanding of grant compliance, reporting requirements, and renewal processes.
- Experience using CRM systems to manage donor pipelines, communications, and relationship tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and complex funding calendars simultaneously.
- Experience collaborating across program, finance, and communications teams to produce funder-facing materials.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior staff with clear accountability and support structures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong storytelling ability.
- Strong project management, organization, and attention to detail.

- Preferred experience managing $6M+ foundation portfolios or working in coalition/advocacy funding environments.
- Familiarity with funder engagement strategies such as briefings, newsletters, and donor conferences is a plus.

- Competitive salary range of $90,000 – $104,999, depending on experience.
