Salary Interval: Salary

Pay_Range: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00

Position Description:

Rachel Contracting is seeking qualified applicants for a Human Resources Manager to join our growing Team. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who is energized by building strong Teams, improving processes, and driving organizational success. This individual will play a key role in supporting company operations through strategic human resources leadership while maintaining a hands-on approach to employee relations, benefits, payroll coordination, compliance, and workforce development.

This position reports directly to the CFO and works closely with company leadership across multiple departments. Rachel Contracting is a specialty site-work contractor performing earthwork, demolition, and utilities primarily throughout the Midwest/Central United States region. Responsibilities and Tasks:

  1. Lead and manage daily human resources operations, including employee relations, benefits administration, payroll coordination, onboarding, and compliance.

  2. Serve as a trusted resource and advisor to leadership and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and best practices.

  3. Oversee employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure a positive and consistent employee experience.

  4. Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollments, changes, claims assistance, and employee education.

  5. Partner with payroll, finance, operations, and project Teams to ensure accurate employee data management and payroll processing support.

  6. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

  7. Support performance management initiatives, employee engagement efforts, and workforce development programs.

  8. Assist with recruiting efforts, candidate screening, and hiring coordination as needed.

  9. Collaborate with auditors and external agencies to oversee and manage union audits and related compliance requirements.

  10. Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement scalable HR systems and operational efficiencies.

  11. Support company culture initiatives that promote Teamwork, accountability, Safety, and employee retention.

  12. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.


Position Requirements:

Position Qualification Preferences:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

  2. Minimum 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, preferably within construction, contracting, or a related industry.

  3. Prior leadership or management experience preferred.

  4. Experience supporting payroll and benefits administration required.

  5. Union payroll or union workforce experience preferred but not required.

  6. Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.

  7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

  8. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  9. Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  10. High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

  11. Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across Teams and with field personnel
