This role is a high-impact policy leadership position focused on advancing clean energy and electrification initiatives across key Northeast states. You will drive state-level legislative, regulatory, and administrative strategies that support the expansion of advanced energy markets and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy. Acting as a key external representative, you will engage directly with policymakers, regulators, coalition partners, and industry stakeholders to influence outcomes and build consensus around forward-looking energy policies. The position blends policy development, political strategy, and stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced advocacy environment. You will also collaborate closely with internal teams and member companies to align priorities and shape unified policy positions. This is a mission-driven role suited for someone who thrives at the intersection of policy, politics, and clean energy transformation. It offers the opportunity to directly influence some of the most ambitious energy transitions in the United States.
- Lead state-level policy strategy and execution across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island to advance clean energy, electrification, and grid modernization initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with legislators, regulators, and key administrative stakeholders to influence policy outcomes.
- Collaborate with member companies to build consensus on policy positions and align advocacy strategies across diverse industry perspectives.
- Manage external lobbyist relationships and coordinate legislative engagement strategies on the ground.
- Organize stakeholder engagement efforts including advocacy days, coalition activities, legislative outreach, and regulatory participation.
- Produce policy materials such as reports, presentations, fact sheets, and advocacy documents to support education and engagement efforts.
- Partner with communications teams to identify earned media opportunities and support messaging through press statements, articles, and public engagement.
- Build and maintain strong coalitions with partners and stakeholders to advance shared clean energy goals.
- Travel as needed across the Northeast to support advocacy activities, stakeholder meetings, and policy initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Engineering, Communications, or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- At least 5+ years of experience in legislative policy, advocacy, campaign work, or energy sector policy development.
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory processes, with experience in energy or climate policy strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with policymakers, industry leaders, and coalition partners.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multi-stakeholder initiatives in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing policy briefs and advocacy materials.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives from strategy to execution.
- Strong interpersonal and coalition-building skills, with the ability to navigate complex political environments.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the Northeast region (and occasionally beyond).
