Product Support Advisor - Produce

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Support Advisor – Produce based in the United States.

This role plays a key part in supporting category management and product strategy execution within the produce segment across a fast-paced distribution environment.
You will act as a central liaison between sales teams, suppliers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth product flow and assortment alignment.
The position focuses on driving category performance through data-driven decision-making, supplier collaboration, and market responsiveness.
You will support inventory optimization efforts, ensuring product availability while helping reduce waste and improve efficiency.
A strong emphasis is placed on supplier relationship management, negotiation, and execution of corporate merchandising strategies.
You will contribute directly to sales enablement by supporting training, product updates, and promotional initiatives.
This is a highly collaborative and operationally impactful role within a dynamic, customer-focused organization.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will support category management execution and supplier coordination to ensure optimal product performance and alignment with corporate strategy.

  • Execute category management initiatives and support assigned product categories within the produce segment
  • Collaborate with suppliers, brokers, planners, and sales teams to ensure effective communication and product alignment
  • Manage local assortment, including item additions, discontinuations, and inventory optimization efforts
  • Support supplier negotiations, including pricing discussions, promotional funding, and earned income programs
  • Facilitate product training sessions and provide updates to sales teams on assortment and market trends
  • Maintain and strengthen supplier and broker relationships to support category growth and execution
  • Assist in driving corporate and local merchandising strategies, including Sysco brand sales initiatives
  • Support inventory depletion and product lifecycle management to improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Monitor market pricing, commodity trends, and category performance in collaboration with revenue management teams
  • Provide ongoing support to sales teams by addressing product-related inquiries and operational needs
Requirements:

This role requires strong category management experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional distribution environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in retail, wholesale, distribution, or category management environments
  • Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a high-volume operational setting
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to engage multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without direct authority
  • Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical skills for reporting and pricing analysis
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and drive results under tight timelines
  • Experience in food distribution or produce category management is a plus
