Job Description
The Facilities Management Department at Elizabethtown College is currently seeking a skilled full-time Carpenter.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide carpentry and general repairs services to the College community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Read prints, sketches, etc. to compile material lists
- Verify field/shop measurements; notify supervisors of discrepancies
- Fabricate and install structural components, casework, etc. in accordance with plans and field measurements
- Maintain status reports of all phases of fabrication and installation
- Maintain cleanliness of work are and surrounding areas at all times
- Order material as required by the project
- Make general repairs as needed, such as roof, drywall, window, tile, furniture, and/or concrete repairs
- Assist with snow removal
- Other duties as assigned
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist other departments on campus as necessary
- Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
High school, trade, or technical school degree; plus four years of carpentry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations
This position requires a valid driver’s license for business travel purposes (individual must have a US driver’s license for at least three years). Individuals must be a qualified forklift operator.

- Occasionally required to remain seated in a normal position for long periods of time

- Regularly required to reach up and out with hands and arms
- Regularly required to talk and hear; verbally express information or instructions
- Regularly required to use hands to grasp objects, type, pick up objects, move objects, or hold objects
- Regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
- Regularly required to climb stairs and/or ladders
- Occasionally required to lift up to 75 pounds and carry a distance of 25 feet
- Occasionally required to push and/or pull up to 75 pounds a distance of 10 feet
- Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
VISION REQUIREMENTS
To successfully perform this position, individuals must possess the following:
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
- Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships
- Adjustable focus

The employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather and temperature extremes, indoor conditions, and moderate noise level. This individual is occasionally exposed to extreme noise level. This individual is also regularly exposed to chemicals, fumes, dust, and/or work safety hazards.
