Join a Physician-Led Healthcare Organization Committed to Exceptional Provider Experience
We are seeking a highly organized, relationship-driven Onboarding & Retention Specialist to support the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and retention of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). This role serves as a key liaison between providers, operational leaders, credentialing, HR, and recruitment teams to ensure a seamless transition from contract signing through long-term provider success.
The ideal candidate is passionate about creating exceptional provider experiences, fostering engagement, and implementing retention strategies that support organizational growth and stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Provider Onboarding
- Coordinate all aspects of physician and APP onboarding from contract execution through start date and beyond.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new providers throughout the onboarding process.
- Partner with credentialing, HR, IT, operations, marketing, and department leadership to ensure timely completion of onboarding requirements.
- Monitor onboarding milestones and proactively address delays or barriers.
- Coordinate orientation schedules, Epic training, facility tours, introductions, and provider welcome activities.
- Ensure providers have appropriate access, equipment, resources, and support prior to their start date.
- Maintain onboarding dashboards, tracking systems, and provider files.
Provider Engagement & Retention
- Develop and implement provider engagement and retention initiatives.
- Conduct regular provider check-ins during the first year and throughout employment.
- Coordinate stay interviews and analyze feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with leadership to address provider concerns and improve provider satisfaction.
- Assist in developing recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and engagement activities.
- Support provider mentorship and integration programs.
- Monitor retention metrics and prepare reports for leadership.
Recruitment Support
- Collaborate with physician recruiters to ensure a smooth handoff from candidate acceptance to onboarding.
- Assist with recruitment events, site visits, and provider welcome activities.
- Support relocation coordination and community integration efforts.
- Maintain communication with candidates throughout the pre-employment process.
Data & Reporting
- Track provider onboarding completion rates, engagement metrics, and retention outcomes.
- Prepare reports and presentations for leadership.
- Analyze turnover trends and provide recommendations for process improvements.
- Maintain accurate provider records and documentation.

Requirements:Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in physician recruitment, provider relations, onboarding, human resources, healthcare operations, or a related field.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
Preferred
- Experience working with physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Knowledge of healthcare credentialing and provider onboarding processes.
- Experience with provider engagement, retention, or employee experience programs.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems and onboarding platforms.
