Description

INDUSTRIAL PAINTER

Wage: $30.10 - $32.70 DOE

Schedule: 10-hour shift, days

Experience / Skills Required:

3+ years of Industrial Painting experience preferred. Deep knowledge of mixing and applying high-performance materials, including epoxies, polyurethanes, vinyl esters, novolacs, and zinc-rich primers. Strong knowledge of Industrial Painting and surface preparation. Ability to operate and maintain painting equipment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work safely and follow instructions and project specifications.

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED REQUIRED

General Description of Work Performed:

Apply specialized chemical-resistant linings, high-build epoxies, polyurethanes, and novolac phenolics to chemical storage tanks, process piping, structural steel, and secondary containment areas.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Uses heavy-duty industrial coatings like epoxies, polyurethanes, and zinc-rich primers, often requiring intense surface prep like sandblasting or abrasive blasting and heavy spray rigs.
  • Operates under strict regulatory compliance (such as OSHA guidelines), hazardous dust controls, and specialized ventilation or respiratory protocols due to toxic fumes or abrasive media.
  • Clean and strip rust, old coatings, or scale using abrasive blasting (sandblasting) or high-pressure washing.
  • Use commercial spray equipment, rollers, and brushes to apply high-performance epoxies, urethanes, and elastomeric coatings.
  • Ability to accurately mix multi-part coatings according to exact induction times, pot life limits, and thinning ratios specified on product data sheets.
  • Wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) and build safe rigging or scaffolding to work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Capture and dispose of hazardous debris (such as blast grit) according to strict rules.
  • Safely operate a Manlift, Scissor Lift, & Forklift.
  • Safely operate grinders, scrapers, sand blasters, and paint sprayers.
  • The ability to climb ladders and work from scaffolding at elevated levels.
  • Applies coating, primers and paints as well as working with solvents, paint thinners and other hazardous chemicals.
  • Able to work in a confined space and adhere to the confined space compliance guidelines.
  • Understand and follow plant safety rules and environmental programs of the Company
  • Adhere to the AMPAC Quality, Safety, & Environmental (QSE) Manual
  • Understand and comply with Company Policies / Procedures
