Responsibilities- Deliver and distribute building products to assigned customers safely, accurately and on schedule.
- Safely load, secure, handle, transport and unload building materials and heavy cargo.
- Inspect and maintain cargo securement throughout transportation to ensure materials are transported safely.
- Maintain logs and records according DOT regulations.
- Assist associates in loading and unloading trucks or building loads as needed.
- Operate vehicles in compliance with company safety policies and applicable DOT regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized and well maintained truck.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the work area, including loading and unloading areas.
- Perform routine inspections and promptly report vehicle, equipment or safety concerns.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers during deliveries.
- Perform duties safely in all weather conditions and adapt to changing road and job-site conditions.
- Follow all applicable company policies, procedures and safety standards.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or two (2) years equivalent work experience
- Must have Class A Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) and possess the ability to safely operate transportation equipment (i.e., tractor/trailer combinations).
- Two (2) years truck driving experience required.
- Must have working knowledge of DOT regulations and meet BC driver qualifications.
- Performs duties in all weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous flatbed truck driving experience preferred.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Experience with mountain driving preferred.
- Experience securing loads with straps and other cargo securement equipment.
- Previous experience delivering building materials or other heavy cargo is a plus.
