Job Description

Description:

Fervo Energy is the world's leading developer of enhanced geothermal systems, deploying directional drilling, fiber optic sensing, and advanced well completions to deliver firm, 24/7 carbon-free power. Fervo is scaling rapidly across the U.S. to meet growing demand from utilities, industrials, and data centers for clean, dispatchable electricity.

Fervo's geothermal power plants rely on complex brine and process piping systems to move high-temperature fluid from wells to power conversion equipment and back. The Piping Designer is responsible for the detailed design of these systems -- including large-diameter brine routing, piping layout, and isometric drawing production -- supporting Fervo's active project deployments and EPC coordination.

This is a senior individual contributor role for an experienced piping designer who has routed large-diameter systems in industrial or power generation environments. You will own piping design deliverables for plant piping systems -- developing routing solutions, producing isometrics, and coordinating with civil, mechanical, and process engineers to deliver complete, constructable design packages.

Brine systems present unique routing challenges: large pipe diameters, high temperatures, site constraints, and the need for creative, cost-effective solutions. This role is for someone who has solved these problems before and brings the experience and judgment to do it again in a fast-moving environment with limited margin for rework.

The right candidate works independently, interfaces with EPC partners effectively, and helps develop internal standards.

Requirements:

Responsibilities

Piping Design

  • Develop piping routing layouts, isometrics, and support drawings for large-diameter brine and process piping systems
  • Produce detailed piping design packages from P&IDs, equipment layouts, and process engineering inputs
  • Develop and maintain line lists, piping material specifications, and supporting documentation
  • Incorporate field markups and design changes accurately and efficiently

EPC and Vendor Coordination

  • Interface with EPC partners on piping design deliverables, design reviews, and field coordination
  • Review EPC piping submittals for compliance with Fervo's design standards and project requirements
  • Participate in model reviews and constructability assessments

Standards Development

  • Contribute to the development of Fervo's internal piping design standards and material specifications
  • Support as-built documentation and project closeout activities

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree or higher in Piping Design, Engineering Technology, or related discipline; or equivalent professional experience
  • 7+ years of piping design experience in power generation, geothermal, oil and gas, or industrial environments
  • Experience with large-diameter piping systems (6-inch and above)
  • Proficiency in Plant3D, PDMS, or AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated ability to produce complete piping design packages independently

Preferred

  • Experience with brine, geothermal fluid, or high-temperature water systems
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.1 or B31.3 piping codes
  • Experience coordinating piping design with EPC contractors in an owner's engineer capacity
  • Isometric drawing production experience and familiarity with stress analysis inputs
