Job Description

VP, Product Strategy & Operations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP, Product Strategy & Operations based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity focused on building the strategic and operational foundation of a scaling Product organization.
You will connect product strategy with disciplined execution, ensuring market intelligence, roadmap priorities, launches, and cross-functional programs remain aligned.
The role spans market analysis, launch excellence, program management, and enterprise-grade product documentation.
You will work closely with product, engineering, marketing, sales, customer success, and executive leadership to turn strategy into measurable outcomes.
As a builder, you will establish operating frameworks, processes, metrics, and organizational capabilities where they do not yet exist.
You will also recruit and develop a multidisciplinary team while creating greater predictability, accountability, and visibility across the product portfolio.
This role offers significant influence over how a growing product organization operates, scales, and brings products successfully to market.

Accountabilities
  • Lead market analysis, competitive intelligence, market sizing, and segmentation initiatives that inform roadmap prioritization and broader portfolio strategy.

  • Establish repeatable frameworks for monitoring market dynamics, buyer needs, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities.

  • Translate market insights into actionable recommendations for product leaders and executives rather than producing analysis without clear business application.

  • Own the end-to-end product launch framework, including readiness criteria, cross-functional launch plans, tiering models, success metrics, and post-launch retrospectives.

  • Partner with Product Marketing, Sales Enablement, Customer Success, and other stakeholders to ensure releases have clear commercial, adoption, and customer-impact plans.

  • Build and lead a program management function responsible for predictable execution across complex, cross-functional product initiatives.

  • Provide portfolio-level visibility into roadmap execution, dependencies, risks, escalations, and progress through effective reporting and operating rhythms.

  • Establish durable planning cycles, status reporting practices, escalation paths, and other operating mechanisms appropriate for a growing product organization.

  • Oversee product documentation, release notes, internal resources, and customer-facing knowledge materials, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and consistency.

  • Develop scalable documentation processes that support enterprise and technical audiences while reducing support demands and improving customer self-service.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead specialists across market analysis, launch management, program management, and documentation.

  • Define career paths, operating standards, and organizational practices for disciplines that are being built and formalized.

  • Serve as a strategic and operational partner to the CPO, translating executive priorities into coordinated execution across the Product organization.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in product strategy, product operations, program management, or a related discipline.

  • 3–5+ years of experience leading and developing teams.

  • Demonstrated success building or significantly maturing a product operations, strategy, or program management function within a scaling or transforming organization.

  • Strong knowledge of market analysis and competitive intelligence methodologies, with the ability to turn ambiguous market signals into clear strategic recommendations.

  • Proven experience managing high-stakes product launches with measurable commercial or customer outcomes.

  • Strong program management capabilities, including experience overseeing portfolios of interconnected initiatives rather than individual projects.

  • Familiarity with tools, frameworks, and operating practices used to track cross-functional product execution, dependencies, risks, and milestones.

  • Experience overseeing or closely partnering with technical documentation teams, with an understanding of effective documentation for enterprise and technical audiences.

  • Excellent executive communication skills and the ability to present recommendations and operational insights to C-suite and board-level stakeholders.

  • Comfortable creating structure, processes, and operating models within organizations where product management maturity is still developing.

  • Strong strategic thinking, organizational leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively across product, engineering, marketing, sales, customer success, and other business functions.

  • Experience in enterprise software, legal technology, eDiscovery, or another complex B2B or enterprise environment is a plus.

Benefits
  • Senior leadership opportunity: Directly influence the operating model, strategy, and execution capabilities of a growing Product organization.

  • Strategic visibility: Work closely with executive leadership and contribute to high-impact product and portfolio decisions.

  • Cross-functional scope: Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and other functions.

  • Team-building opportunity: Recruit, develop, and shape a multidisciplinary team spanning market analysis, launch excellence, program management, and documentation.

  • Remote work: Remote position based in the United States.

  • Career impact: Establish scalable processes, standards, and operating frameworks that can shape the organization's long-term product maturity.

  • Inclusive workplace: Equal employment opportunities are provided without regard to legally protected characteristics.
